POLLING PLACE ACCESSIBILITY

According to reports from county boards of election to the attorney general's office, 15 of New Jersey's 21 counties maintain that 100 percent of their polling places are accessible to people with disabilities and elderly voters. Those counties are Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Salem, Union, and Warren.

What about your polling place?  Is it accessible for people in wheelchairs?  If not, is there an alternative site for people with wheelchairs to cast their vote? Are there alternative formats or accommodations made for people with vision or mobility problems? Are the poll workers sensitive to the needs of people with cognitive disabilities and are they aware of the law?

Take our quick (less than a minute) polling place survey and help us crack down on the counties and municipalities that continue to deny voters with disabilities their rights.
